KL to Singapore by Train

Wanna visit Singapore from KL?? One of the best choices for your transportation is train. Yups, it’s actually my favorite. I like going to some places by train. Because I think train is romantic. Sitting beside the window, enjoy the nice view outside with a cup of coffee in hand. What a romantic. Hahahaha but it’s not happen to me this time. Because it’s night and I just sleep all the way.

Actually I have my own reason why I go to Singapore by train. Beside its comfortable, also the schedule of the train is match with my trip schedule. I planned to have one day trip in Singapore. Then I need arrive in Singapore in the morning and return to KL in the night in the same day.

And when I check the train schedule, there is a train leaving from KL to Woodlands Singapore at 23:00 and arrives at 06:55. And fortunately, the same train leaving from Woodlands Singapore to KL is at 23:30 and arrives at 06:50. It’s very perfect timing. I have enough time to visit some places in Singapore all daylong.

For your information, there are actualy three kinds of train depart from KL to Woodlands Singapore. Those are Expres Sinaran Selatan departs at 08:00, Express Rakyat departs at 14:35, and Senandung Sutera departs at 23:00. And the travel time is about 7 hours.

Senandung Sutera is my choice. I choose the second class sleeper. It’s very comfortable and clean. The price for this type is based on the bed. It’s MYR 40 for upper bed and MYR 46 for lower bed.

Tips to start your one day trip

For you who want to have one day trip in Singapore like I did, I recommend you to check some tips below:

1. Buy the ticket online from: http://www.ktmb.com.my

Or you can buy it from the ticket window in KL Sentral Malaysia. The location is in the second floor, in the right side from the stairs. If you buy ticket from the ticket window, I recommend you to buy it at least one day before.

2. Buy round trip ticket from Malaysia. If you buy it from Singapore it will be more expensive, because you have to pay it in Singapore dollars.

3. Bring pen. In Singapore immigration, you need to fill a form and you need a pen.

4. Prepare your passport, at about 05:30 you will arrive at Immigration and you have to drop from the train to get your passport stamp. Don’t worry, the train officer will announce you.

5. Have breakfast. In front of Woodlands train checkpoint you will see some halal cook shop.

6. Ready to explore Singapore?? First, going to the nearest MRT by bus. The bus costs SGD 14.

Luggage Storage Service at KL Sentral

KL Sentral is the largest transit hub in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I think it is the most efficient way for your transit in the city, regardless of where you are heading to or you are from.  

As the largest transit hub in the city, KL Sentral has a lot of facilities. And one of the facilities is luggage storage service. And for this kind of facility actually you have plenty of options. There are at least two luggage storage services and also one self service coin locker.

1. Matang luggage

Located at level 2 opposite of KTM Intercity ticket counter

2. Madam’s keeper

Located at level 1 opposite of Mc Donals

3. Dr. Locker

Located at level 1 behind the stairways/escalator going to level 2 and also at level 2 near the Air Asia office

Dr. Locker is self service locker. So, you have to do everything yourself. First, you have to get token from the token machine. It will cost you 5 RM/token. If you want to use the 15 RM locker, so you need three tokens. How to operate the locker is all written on the locker’s door. But if you still need a help, there is a man wearing Dr. Locker uniform who is always ready to help you.

How to operate Dr. Locker;

1. Put your luggage into the locker

2. Insert your coins and close the door

3. Turn the key into the left and then pull it out

It’s also written on the locker’s door that is no over night storage. But since i didn’t read the notice, i left my luggage there for three days and you know what? there is no more charge for it. I don’t know is it an error or what. Actually until now i still curious about that. Because someone said to me that the overnight storage will get more charge. But in reality it didn’t happen. Anyone experienced this?

Speaking about the locker, there are actually three different kinds of lockers. It is based on the size. It is 10 RM for the smaller one, 15 RM for the medium and 20 RM for the biggest.

I used this service once and the medium one is my choice. It’s enough for my big suitcase which is 60 x 40 x 30 cm and medium backpack.

I was satisfied with this self service locker.  It was safe, easy and has the reasonable price.

Pudu Sentral is the main bus station in Kuala Lumpur. It’s located near China Town. As the main bus station Pudu Sentral has a lot of outlets inside. Such as ATM at the right of the staircase, Money changer, ticket counters, food court and so on. And one of the important outlets is luggage storage service. It’s good for travelers who have a lot of bags to carry around. They still can going out exploring the city and keep their bags here.

Luggage storage service at Pudu Sentral is one of luggage storage in Kuala Lumpur. It is located at Pudu Sentral bus station near waiting room. In front of staircase you will see a room used as waiting area. And when you enter that room, the luggage storage service is on your left.

Actually this luggage storage is not the only one in Pudu Sentral. There are some of them inside Pudu Sentral. And of course they have their own price, term and condition. So, the choice is yours.

Bukit Bintang 亞羅街夜市

Bukit Bintang 亞羅街夜市

搭乘monorail單軌電車到Bukit Bintang站，下車後便是吉隆坡最熱鬧的金三角，這裡除了星光大道外，還有華人聚集的亞羅街夜市。




從電車站出來後，往前走便是相當繁華的Jalan Bukit Bintang街角，左轉後看到Changkat Bukit Bintang右轉，這條街往後走便是熱鬧的久吧街，一走進去就可以看到左手邊很熱鬧的亞羅街Jalan Alor夜市入口。




進入夜市後，夜市大多是華人開設的餐廳，路邊攤不多，都是有店面的，而且也不是什麼小吃，幾乎都是閩粵菜系為主的熱炒料理或者是烤肉之類的小食。跟台灣的夜市很不一樣，而且亞羅街其實也不長，大概十分鐘就逛完了。夜市裡最有名的是黃亞華小食店。而且這裡其實也沒什麼比較特別的，這些菜色台灣大多也有，像是港式燒臘，台灣多的是。此外因為這裡是觀光客來的地方，所以餐廳的消費也比較高一點。









離開亞羅街後，往Jalan Bukit Bintang另外一個方向去，也就是俗稱星光大道的這條商業街，這條路上兩旁都是百貨商場，是吉隆坡最熱鬧的地帶，也是各種名牌聚集的地方。不過我對逛街實在沒啥興趣，來馬來西亞購物也沒比較便宜，所以只是在外面晃晃走走。此外，這附近靠近亞羅街這的路邊很多馬殺雞拉客的人，幾乎整條路上都在拉客，還有拉皮條的，衝著我問要不要小姐。


















這裡也是吉隆坡市容比較漂亮的地方，尤其相較於印度區、華人區的房子來說，這裡的建築都比較現代化，也蠻有設計感的。

如果沒有要購物的話，這裡其實也沒什麼好來的。亞羅街夜市大概來一次就夠了，吃個烤雞翅就可以走了。

茨廠街其實也就是吉隆坡的唐人街，是華人聚居地。







 

要到茨廠街有兩種方式，一種是吉隆坡步行觀光地圖中所寫的搭乘monorail到Maharajalela站下車，往北方走，會經過觀音廟一路逛到茨廠街的chinatown之旅。如果沒想去觀音廟的話，那也可以直接搭乘RapidKL到Pasar Seni站下車，出站旁邊就是唐人街了，也不用怕迷路，唐人街嘛，都是中文的店家。















 

茨廠街其實就是個結合了傳統市場、小吃攤販、紀念品店、夜市的地方，而基本上我們華人來到這裡逛街，倒也沒什麼好逛的，因為這裡賣的東西大多是我們平常常見的，大概對老外來說比較特別吧。茨廠街裡除了一些小吃攤販外，就是賣衣服飾品的店，有點像香港的女人街、台灣的華西街。沒啥好逛的，來吃吃東西倒還可以，不過這裡的食物大多是港式料理，尤以燒臘為多，沒有比較特別的食物，或許也有些好吃的中式料理，不過我覺得都來到異國了，還一直吃常吃的中菜實在有點令人生厭，所以我對茨廠街這兒的店家實在是沒啥興趣。





 

茨廠街附近就是關帝廟，做生意的人都要拜關公。關帝廟建於光緒14年，距今也有一百多年了，不過規模倒不是很大。 就我個人看來，茨廠街算是逛之無味，棄之可惜的景點，實在也是吉隆坡可逛的景點也不多，待那麼多天不來這逛逛好像也沒什麼地方能去。
